Update

It's been a good while since I forced myself to sit down and write for my blog. This week I'm playing catch up with the recipes I've done. So, here's what you missed with the fosters...

Both Rosemary and Maggie Moo got adopted. Rosemary is still with the couple who adopted her and they continue to love her. We also receive updates from them via Facebook. I love it when we receive updates from our previous fosters!

However, the lady who adopted Maggie Moo returned her to SOAR Doggy Rescue this past week because the lady has health issues and cannot continue to care for Maggie Moo. I hate it when people do this, but at least she returned her to the rescue and not the shelter. So, Miss Maggie Moo is back with us. It was great to see Maggie! She is really beautiful, Mom and I think she is cuter than when she was a puppy. She is a Pocket Pit weighing just 47lbs! Adorable! And she remembers everything about her routine at our house!! And of course she remembers our dogs and us (dogs have such good memories.) Luckily for us and more importantly, her, the lady had kept the name we gave her so that was one less change that she had to deal with.

We are also fostering another dog, Ruby. We took her in on Thanksgiving night. She is a bigger ham than Jack, which is saying a lot! She is about a year and a half and is a shepherd/lab mix and weighs 55lbs. She is still quite the puppy, but Maggie Moo moving in has helped her realize she must grow up a bit :-).

 Up until a week ago, we were networking her ourselves, but SOAR took her under their wings and now Ruby is getting even more exposure. Thank you SOAR!

Dog Paintings Part 1

It turns out Jack and Willow are little artists :-)
A couple of weeks before Willow got adopted, she and Jack went outside and we had them create some works of art. Here are the results!

Now, before I show you the back I would like to take a moment to talk about these. Each of these captures their personalities so well. For example, Jack's looks spazzy, yet organized. Whereas Willow's looks like it's flowing and shy.

On the back, Mom glued a loop to hang the paintings and pictures of the dog who made the painting.

If you are wondering why this post is titled "Dog Paintings Part 1" well, this is why: Our dogs are yet to make their own masterpieces! So when they do, you know I'm going to share them here :-)

News And Miscellaneous Things

I know... It has been a little while since I've sat down and wrote a blog post. Maybe I was just waiting to do a blog post until I could tell you this really, really good piece of news.

Willow received another application. Better yet, it was approved. And best of all, today she meets her adopters!

See? I told you it was really good news! 

         

Willow left our house on Thursday, to go on transport to Pennsylvania. Bailey's Arms is having a huge adoption event up in Pennsylvania. People that live around there are going to the event to meet the dogs they fell in love with and adopted online and others are hoping to meet a furry companion to take home.

                                

We have no idea how the trip up there went - the lady who heads the rescue hasn't given any updates, so we are waiting on pins and needles. But, the father and son that adopted Willow have already sent us a very nice, day by day email. They also sent some pictures and a video. It sounds like Willow is doing great!

What's been going on?

I have some updates on the adventures of Jack and Willow...

Willow was spayed on Thursday and she also was officially checked out by the vet. She doesn't have Heartworms (YAY!). The vet didn't really have a guess on her age, except that she is under a year old, or what type of dog she is (we will just continue to classify her as a goofball, LOL.) She is most likely a hound and labrador mix, but if you have any guesses, PLEASE share :-).

I'm pretty sure she is feeling better today and I think the main reason for this is because she is back with the rest of the pack. The first couple of days after her surgery, we had her in the kitchen away from the other dogs to let her recover. She protested by not eating much of her food and acting extremely sad. Mom thought that maybe she was upset and wanted to be with the other dogs. So, we let her in with everybody else and guess what? She ate her food! :-) She did really good with not chewing on her incision site, so she did not have to wear the cone of shame.

Do you want to know the best news? On Easter we received word that she has an adoption application! Someone wants to adopt her!! So, I hope it gets approved. She is such a sweet girl and will be someone's very best friend!

On the Saturday before Easter, we took Jack to an adoption event with Bailey's Arms (we would have taken Willow, but she was recovering from surgery.)

He did very well... No, he did AWESOME! He enjoyed soaking up all of the attention, loving every minute. He did well with the other fosters that were there as well as little kids that he isn't exposed to every day. It was a good socialization experience for him. He didn't get any adoption applications, but a lot of people were very interested in him. So, we'll keep our paws crossed that the right family comes along for him to rescue.

And hey, you have to start somewhere. For Jack's first adoption event he was awesome-sauce! And we'll do it again in a few weeks.... at a dog bakery!!!!!

Willow

A couple weeks ago Mom and Dad were going to the farmers market, but instead rescued a dog that was hanging out by the highway.

Since then we have been looking for her owners, but have had no success. The woman who manages Bailey's Arms (the rescue group Jack is with) agreed to sponsor Willow if we foster her, which we have.

So, we have 5 dogs and only 4 people... does that mean we're crazy? Probably. But you know what? I think it's a good kind of crazy!

Tuesday Stuff

Alright, I think its time for an update on the dogs in our house...

Reba has been adopted... She is a Florida dog now and I am completely confident that she will be very spoiled, which is awesome! Her adopters renamed her Jasmine and it sounds like she is doing great. I love that they have been sending us updates... it makes me feel like we definitely chose the right family for her!

Jack has moved inside and is no longer using Mom's studio... so one of these days we will help her unpack her stuff and move in there. He was neutered on Friday and his healing is going great! He doesn't even seem to have noticed that he had a procedure done and we haven't had to put the cone of shame on him because he is leaving the stitches alone. We have discovered he gets along with dogs and doesn't mind the cats in the house (he will bark at cats outside - at least so far. We are taking it one step at a time to ensure the dogs get along and we don't have any problems... its a little complicated with having both older dogs and the puppy... everyone has a different play style. We are continuing the crate training, but he doesn't like it so much now that he can see and hear us... In the evenings we let him in the living room with us and our dogs. Most of his skin issues have cleared up, but it looks like he has some ringworm so we are now giving him medicine for that... sort of fighting it from the inside out. We are also putting anti-fungal cream on the spots on his body. The vet weighed him at 66, so he is definitely putting his weight back on:)He does real good at listening to us when outside and inside only gives us a hard time when it is time to go into his crate. We found him a few toys that he hasn't been able to destroy in 2 minutes... none of them are soft and squishy.

Charlie and Apple are getting along great with Luna and vise versa. Luna is doing great, she is playing and she recently discovered how to do zoomies, which is hilarious to watch! She is getting spayed today. She is up to 25 lbs and is doing really good with her crate training. I have no doubt that one day she will be trusted to hang out on Mom's bed with Charlie and Apple when we go shopping. She didn't seem to miss Reba too much when Reba went to her new home. The only trouble we have with her is that she is a slow eater and if the others show interest in her food, then she won't eat it. We can usually get her to eat if we get out a spoon and feed her from the spoon... She is training us!
